CAP AND GOWN RENTAL - FINAL ORDERS and PICKUP

A cap and gown is mandatory for graduates and the university reserves the right to refuse admission to students who do not comply with this requirement. Please visit the ٺƵ Stores for more details and to access the online ordering system. The last day to order online is May 20 at 8:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) Distribution will occur between May 21-June 14 at the Memorial Union Campus Store lower level Mon-Fri 8:30 AM–6 PM, Sat noon-5 PM. The also provides information on other opportunities to purchase custom souvenirs and gifts.

TICKET INFORMATION UPDATE

Registered graduates participating in the ceremony do not need tickets to enter and will be checking in at a separate area. Guest tickets will be issued to the registered graduate through Ticketmaster by the end of May. All graduates will be issued 6 guest tickets, regardless of what they requested during registration. If you do not need 6 guest tickets, you will have two options:

  1. Transfer your extra tickets through Ticketmaster to fellow graduates who are participating in your same ceremony.

  2. Return your extra tickets to the Commencement team through Ticketmaster so they can be redistributed to graduates who have requested extra tickets.

We will be providing instructions on how to transfer/return extra guest tickets in our next update email. Tickets are not required for children ages 2 and under. Please note that guest tickets are considered “general admission.” This means there are no assigned seats and seating is first come, first served. Doors will open 60 minutes before the start time for each ceremony and guests should plan to come early to secure their seats.

Don’t sell your extra tickets: University policy prohibits the selling of commencement tickets for money or for any commercial value. Violation will result in referral to Student Judicial Affairs.

REGISTRATION CANCELLATION/CEREMONY CHANGES

If your plans have changed regarding Spring Commencement, please email your college using the Commencement contact page to confirm that you will no longer be attending the Commencement ceremony. Let us know as soon as possible and no later than May 9. Please note that you must cancel your registration in order to be eligible to register for and attend a future Commencement ceremony. The deadline to request a ceremony change is also May 9.

GOLDEN 1 CENTER BAG POLICY AND PROHIBITED ITEMS

. Clutches and wallets smaller than 8” x 6” x 1” will be permitted and are subject to security inspection. Please do not bring any bags larger than this size or you will not be permitted to enter the arena. Bags deemed and accepted as medical bags must be searched and tagged by a security supervisor. Backpacks are prohibited inside Golden 1 Center. In addition to the bag policy, we recommend that you review the to ensure entry into the arena.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

If you are planning to drive, ensure you and your guests leave ample time to park and go through Golden 1 Center security. Ceremonies will start on time. To help expedite the parking process, we recommend you reserve parking at the Golden 1 Center in advance directly through where you will select a parking lot and reserve a parking pass.

Please note that will be taking place on June 14 and 15 and we expect the downtown Sacramento area will be busier than usual on those days. We encourage you to reserve parking as soon as possible. If you are using a rideshare service, please allow for extra travel time to arrive at the Golden 1 Center. For more parking info, including directions and a map, visit the .

ACCESSIBILITY ACCOMMODATIONS

The Golden 1 Center has thorough accessibility accommodations for guests. Please visit the for information for guests with disabilities or special needs.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Pro Pics is the official photographer for the commencement ceremonies to take portraits of graduates. On-stage photos and individual portraits will be available for purchase from Pro Pics following the graduation ceremonies. . There is no cost to have your photo taken and no obligation to purchase.

Photos taken by family or friends will be permitted from their seats or from the designated photo areas available during the ceremony. Tripods will NOT be allowed into any of our commencement venues.

After commencement, graduates can go to , click on the link of their ceremony, and search by last name to order photographs. For any issues, please contact info@propicsusa.com.

If guests are not able to attend in person or would prefer to watch at home, ceremonies will be shown live on the commencement homepage and on-demand on the . Past ceremonies are saved in our Commencement Archives.

We are 2 months away from Spring Commencement at the , and it’s time to continue planning for your big day! 

TICKET INFORMATION

Registered graduates participating in the ceremony do not need tickets to enter and will be checking in at a separate area. Instructions on how to access and distribute tickets to your guests will be provided in May.

Guest tickets will be issued to the registered graduate a few days prior to the ceremony date. Tickets are not required for children ages 2 and under. Please note that guest tickets are considered “general admission.” This means there are no assigned seats and seating is first come, first served.

The ٺƵ Student Foundation offers the Cap & Gown Award for students who need financial assistance in renting their cap and gown from the bookstore. Visit the  for more information about this award. The deadline to apply is April 10.

Are you interested in being one of the five student speakers at the Commencement ceremonies this spring? Visit  to learn more about this opportunity and apply. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 2.

GRAD FAIR

will be held on Friday, April 11 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Memorial Union North Courtyard outside of the Campus Store. Graduates can ask ceremony questions to staff from the dean’s office of their undergraduate college, get information about gown rental, purchase grad packs and commencement souvenirs, and get professional graduation photos taken in a cap and gown. You are invited to participate in one of the ٺƵ Spring 2025 Undergraduate Commencement celebrations at the  in Sacramento. You have received this email because you have completed 140 units of degree-applicable credit as of the end of fall quarter, meeting the requirement needed to register. (Please note that participating in a commencement ceremony doesn’t mean you have completed your degree. To officially graduate and receive your diploma, you must have filed a graduation application online between January 13, 2025 and March 7, 2025 through the .)

COMMENCEMENT REGISTRATION

Registration for the spring 2025 undergraduate commencement ceremonies opens this morning at 10 a.m. at ucdavis.edu/commencement.

You must register to participate in one of the commencement ceremonies. When registering, you will be asked to choose a ceremony date from the five options below. Ceremony dates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so register as soon as possiblePlease note that each graduate can request up to six guest tickets. Be sure to also check the dates and times of any identity, cultural and affinity celebrations you would like to attend before confirming your commencement ceremony date.
