Shields Library Celebrates the Arboretum with Archival Exhibit

The exhibit runs through summer 2025.

Groups of people walk along a path through a grassy area by a pond. Blossoming trees line the pond and tower over the path.

Shields Library is celebrating the ٺƵ Arboretum and Public Garden and its vibrant history with a new exhibit, “Community in Bloom.”

Located in the library’s lobby, the exhibit will run through summer 2025 and features more than a dozen photographs and documents from the University Archives dating back to the 1950s.

“The Arboretum is a fascinating place — I notice something new every time I go there,” said ٺƵ Library University Archivist and “Community in Bloom” exhibit curator Ignacio Sanchez-Alonso. “The plants, the gardens and the wildlife are beautiful and captivating, but I find the human connection to be its most fascinating attribute. Everyone has a story about the Arboretum.”
